Samsung is one of the most experienced and innovative makers of DLP televisions. All those years of expertise helped create the sleek, sophisticated HL61A750. This HDTV employs Samsung's latest LED technology to deliver a big, colorful picture that can really fill a room. And the cabinet's super-thin bezel gives this model a cool, all-screen look.
State-of-the-art LED light engine
Instead of using a lamp and spinning color wheel like most DLP sets, the HL61A750 features a series of rapid-flashing Light Emitting Diodes that produce the red, green and blue primary colors, as well as the TV's illumination. For the few people who occasionally see "rainbows" — distracting flashes of color — when watching conventional DLP TVs, Samsung's LED-based light engine usually solves the issue. This system delivers high-contrast images with an ultra-wide color range, and 40% higher brightness than last year's models. Other LED benefits include cooler, quieter operation, lower energy consumption, and much quicker start-up.
Buy HDTV Samsung HL61A750 because it High-definition the way it was meant to be seen
The HL61A750 boasts 1080p resolution, which is pretty much a necessity to ensure a crystal-clear picture on a screen this large. Whether you get your high-definition signals from cable, satellite, or over-the-air, most HD programs are broadcast in 1080i. A 1080p set like this one lets you enjoy them in all their splendor and detail. This TV also lets you take full advantage of high-definition Blu-ray Disc™ players, which output video signals in ultra-clear and detailed 1080p resolution.
A wealth of inputs for a variety of viewing options
The HL61A750 gives you plenty of inputs for your current and future audio/video gear. Three HDMI inputs let you plug in high-def satellite receivers, video game consoles, and other HDMI-equipped components. This "3D-ready" HDTV can deliver a startling 3D experience at home. To make it happen, you need an optional "3D kit" — an IR emitter and special viewing glasses. Right now, only a limited amount of 3D content is available, and you have to connect your PC to the TV to view it.
Design it for to buy HDTv Samsung HL61A750
If you've seen one big-box microdisplay, you've just about seen them all. This is especially true now that Sony's interestingly styled SXRD rear-projection sets are no longer produced. The Samsung HL61A750 sports a glossy black finish with a very thin bezel surrounding the left, right, and top edges of the screen. Samsung's signature round blue circle still sits directly below the middle of the screen.
While the TV's cabinet is unchanged, the remote has undergone a complete makeover. It has a glossy black finish, and I wasn't a fan of the multicolored buttons. I was disappointed that it is not backlit at all, and the round dial around the Enter button intended to help you navigate the menu is awkward to use; I found myself going to places in the menu I didn't intend to visit. The internal menu system has not changed since last year's DLP models, and is quite intuitive and easy to use.
Product Features and Technical Details
Like most modern big-screen LCDs, the HL61A750 has a native resolution of 1080p, which works out to 1,920x1,080 pixels. While we often downplay the importance of 1080p resolution at smaller screen sizes, with a 61-inch screen you should be able to see the benefits of 1080p over 720p, albeit at a very close seating distance of 7 feet.
Three picture modes are available, including Dynamic, Standard, and Movie. I chose Movie, as it produced the best results at the factory presets. The selectable color temperatures are Cool 1, Cool 2, Normal, Warm 1, and Warm 2; we selected Warm 2, as its by far the closest to the broadcast standard color temperature. It the best for decision to Buy HDTV Samsung HL61A750.
Dynamic may be the brightest, but Movie mode is the best for an accurate picture in a dark room environment.
The Detailed Settings menu includes several additional adjustments and almost all of them, including Black Adjust, Dynamic Contrast, Edge Enhancement, and xvYCC Color, are best shut off. The LED control adjusts the backlight for the LEDs, and is very useful in optimizing the black level of the set. The lower you set it the better the blacks, but you also decrease light output, so there is a tradeoff.
When in the Movie mode, you will find that many of the settings in the Picture Options menu are grayed out, indicating they are set correctly and should not be changed. I was very pleased to see that Samsung has added a Blue Only mode, which is helpful in getting color and tint set correctly, as a blue filter really isn't accurate enough with these types of displays (check this tip for details). Color Gamut comes set to sRGB, and that is the most accurate setting. This feature changes the primary colors, and sRGB is very close to the HDTV specifications for red, green, and blue. The Normal and Wide modes bring the primaries way beyond where they are meant to be.
(Updated July, 31, 2008) The Samsung's selection of aspect ratio modes is solid, and includes a Just Scan option that displays 1080i and 1080p without scaling. Since this is a rear-projection set it still overscans about 2.5 percent, which obscures the extreme edges of the image--whereas flat-panel sets can typically show the entire image with zero overscan.
With three HDMI inputs and two component video inputs, you should be covered for high-def video.
There are ample AV connections located in the rear right side of the HL61A750. The most important connections are the three HDMI inputs. Plus, there are two component video inputs for any analog HD devices you have. For standard-definition analog video, there is a single S-Video input and two composite video inputs. A PC-style VGA input is also included, as well as a digital optical audio output, too.
Performance for select to Buy HDTV Samsung HL61A750
This is where the Samsung excels compared to the competition. Color fidelity is exceedingly accurate, requiring only user menu tweaks that don't need professional calibration to access. The primary colors and the grayscale could still stand to be improved a bit, and can be with full-blown professional calibration, but the out-of-the-box performance is still impressive in this regard. And most importantly, blacks can be made to surpass the old microdisplay black-level champs--the Sony SXRD sets, like the Sony KDL-55A3000--by proper manipulation of the LED Control feature. You can check out my full picture settings for more info.
Black level: Blacks are quite compelling on the HL61A750. If you turn down the backlight, using the LED Control feature, you can really get good, deep, inky blacks out of this set--but you need to do it carefully, as light output suffers if you go too low.

DLP Projection System: DLP (Digital Light Processing) technology by Texas Instruments is the only display solution that enables projection systems to create a purely digital connection between a digital video or graphic source and the screen in front of you. While all other technologies are analog and compromise some image quality in translation, DLP projection unleashes the full potential of high-quality video content.
Next Generation DLP Chip by Texas Instruments: Samsung employs a DLP chip that is comprised of millions of microscopic mirrors capable of switching on and off at 15,000 or more times a second to deliver a razor-sharp picture for fast-moving images. When combined with Samsung's new Cinema Smooth Light Engine, the result is a crisp, bright picture with deep, rich colors that's closer to film.
CinemaPure Color Engine: CinemaPure Color Engine creates a brilliant picture that's more lifelike and much closer to film quality. It displays 40% brighter than traditional HDTVs with a crisp, 1080p high definition resolution. You can rely on the Samsung DLP HDTV to deliver high contrast, defined edges and sharp details

Native Resolution: The television has a display resolution of 1920 x 1080. Processing was clean, as evidenced by the quiet nature of blacks.

The Anynet+ system can be used only with Samsung AV devices that support the Anynet+ feature and are connected with HDMI 1.3 cables. The Anynet+ feature must be turned on in the menu to function. Anynet+ can support up to 12 AV devices in total.
Inputs and Outputs Notes
HDMI: The TV feature three HDMI terminals. The HDMI terminals can accommodate a copy-protected digital connection (HDCP) to other devices (such as digital set-top boxes) that have compatible interfaces. One of the HDMI terminals can be used for a DVI-equipped component. A separate analog RCA stereo audio connection and a DVI-to-HDMI adapter will be needed. The HDMI jacks accept 1080p, 1080i, 720p, and 480p signals
Component Video: The two sets of component video inputs will accept 1080p, 1080i, 720p, 480p and 480i signals.
S-Video: In addition to two composite video inputs, the unit also features one S-video input for external devices with and S-Video output such as a camcorder or VCR.
Digital Audio Output: In addition to the unit's analog stereo audio inputs the TV is equipped with a digital audio optical output for connection to your Dolby Digital/DTS receiver.
PC: This input consists of a 3.5mm audio jack and an analog RGB (D-Sub 15-pin) jack. This jack allows you to connect your personal computer with a D-Sub 15-pin output. When using the RGB (D-Sub 15-pin) jack, you must use the PC Audio input for your audio connection. The HL61750 isn't an ideal PC display, because, as we mentioned before, even in Just Scan mode there is some overscan, which will obscure parts of the screen. Aside from that, we found text to be clear and crisp, although resolution tests from DisplayMate indicated that it wasn't delivering all full horizontal resolution.
3D Sync Out: Proprietary output connects to 3D IR emitter.
Uniformity: White field uniformity is exceptional on this set, which is common for DLPs. A good scene for testing this is the very beginning of Chapter Five of The Italian Job, where they are all celebrating in the Alps. There is a long pan of snow-covered mountains, and the Samsung reproduced this scene flawlessly, with no color splotching whatsoever.

Buy HDTV Samsung HL61A750 Summary & Customer Reviews
Almost bought the HLT series from Samsung when I read that it was being replaced by this model. Several issues were addressed, one concerning a halo effect that effected some of the sets, which Samsung later had a fix for. When shopping, went to BB and CC to compare this set with larger screen lcd, plasmas and dlp models. Chose this over other brands of dlp because there is no bulb to replace in the Samsung (led light source). It the best for decision to Buy HDTV Samsung HL61A750. For the same quality picture I found that the plasmas and lcd sets were far more expensive in this screen size range.
Ordered from Amazon, was delivered, unboxed, and hooked up to make sure everything was fine, by the trucking co. Very satisfied with their white glove delivery. In fact, it was better than I expected.
The picture on this set is much better at home than what you see in well-lit stores. The contrast, color and resolution are amazing. Even up close the picture is excellent. Replaced a Toshiba 60" (HD) that was about six years old. Major improvement in HD. The screen on this has no reflective glare as the older one did. Always had a reflection of something in the screen, a light, window... Have directv, so was able to use the HDMI hook up, that replaced the 3 wire component, and two wire audio to the set--now just one. The sound from the set is ample,(it has SRS) however, I hooked it up to surround which gives the viewing experience a lot more kick!
I highly recommend this set on my personal satisfaction, and Amazon for their excellent customer service and the delivery. It the best for determine to Buy HDTV Samsung HL61A750.
I've had my SAMSUNG TV for almost one month. The picture is absolutely amazing. Everytime, when I watched my TV, I had to tell myself that my money was well spent. I really enjoy my TV. You cannot find a HDTV with this quality for the price. Amazon is my favorite vendor. We have purchased a lot of stuff from Amazon, and have never been dissapointed. It took me a while to find a suitable TV stand because I have a big center speaker and a receiver. I bought a Bush TV stand (Model# VS74962) at Best Buy for $249.99. The SAMSUNG TV looks beautiful on the stand.
8/8/08. 1:02PM. The truck pulls up to the house. My heart beat quickens. It's like that feeling when you buy a new sports car--only better. I open the door. A very courteous man, pushing a massive (it was big) box, asks where I want it. I invite him in and point to the just assembled stand. In no time at all he has the thing unpacked and on the stand. It is big! He gives me the packet of info and I sign the paperwork. After letting the condensation dissipate (this is FL with 90 degrees outside and 76 in), I turned it on. I've surely died and gone to video heaven--the picture is THAT good!
8/15/08. One week later and I still love this set. I've tweaked the settings (and, believe me, there are many useful options) and am near perfection. I highly recommend this 61" Samsung! I don't know which I am more impressed with: Samsung or Crutchfield! From Marshall, my Crutchfield advisor, to the guy who delivered the TV, it was one smooth ride--in a mere 30 minutes, I went from 31 “aging analog to 61” digital delights. I doubt you will find this TV for less money elsewhere, but if you do, go with Crutchfield anyway--you positively will not regret it. They are THAT good.
I consider myself fairly picky when it comes to video quality and I have to say that this TV has exceeded all of my expectations. I've read all the reviews and decided to take the leap, against the advice of all my friends that said: get LCD, get Plasma. One weird thing I noticed was while it looks OK at the store, it is simply spectacular when you get it in your home. Several other reviews mentioned the same thing, and it's true. Yes, there is the viewing angle issue for rear projection, but that isn't a problem for me - and the picture is unbelievable - intense rich accurate color, tremendous blacks, excellent sharp detail... you'd have to spend $5000 or more to get this size and picture quality in a plasma or LCD, and I've looked at those and prefer the picture quality of this DLP. The LCD engine will last the life of the TV, you don't need to worry about bulb replacements and this is probably the greenest TV you can buy energy consumption wise... about 120 watts when on and less than a watt when in standby. Samsung absolutely did their homework when engineering this TV. Unless you are intending to hang it on a wall, or have the need to have people sit outside normal viewing positions it is an absolute no brainer, you should definitely buy this TV. This TV has a better picture than others costing thousands more...and it is simply an astonishing value. It the best for determine to Buy HDTV Samsung HL61A750.
I bought this TV after 4 months of exhaustive research, and yes...it is as adveratised by the reviews on this and every site out there.
I am a movie nut, and own over 200, but I am not a videophile who needs everything to be just like a theater...and I am not rich, but damn if this wasn't the closest to perfect I could have come. This tv can fit into any budget, especially seeing how far it is falling in price. The picture is ridiculous. I loved (and still love) my forty inch sony 720p hd, but this thing is so much more screen and detail that I can't even imagine going back. Football is so clear on this and there is no motion jutter to speak of. The standard settings are just fine for normal veiwing, but in a dark environment, setting to movie makes for some amazing black levels. The LED thing is for real too. Not having to replace lamps is a big BIG deal. My cousing has 65" Sony Grand WEGA and has replaced the lamps twice in four years. And, at 200 a pop, that aint cheap. This TV will need LED replacement (expensive right now, very expensive) in about 15 years. Considering Samsungs dive into LED tech for there backlighting, I see this getting alot cheaper in the next few years for those of us who will need a replacement in 2023. And the imputs are many and varied, handling all of your video tech with room to spare.
The menus are a bit extensive, so be ready to go default when it gets too confusing. The sound, which is the only drawback to this TV is ok if your watching the news or weekly whatever, but not so great with external sources or movies. Highly recommend a home theater set up. Mine was just waiting for this TV.
I bought this from Ultimate Electronics (yeah, I paid tax, but they matched Amazon and I got it that day) and wouldn't trade it for the most expensive plasma. Nobody will beat the picture at this size, not plasma, not LCD, untill oleds become reasonable and viable.
Don't wait any longer. Figure out your budget, find your retailer, and pull the trigger. Best decision I could have made.
